Meet Mrs. Slyter

This is my 19th year teaching at Linwood Elementary School. I have taught seven years in third grade, five years in fourth grade, one year in a fourth/fifth split, and three years in fifth grade. This will be my third year teaching 2nd grade! Every year has been memorable, as I have been lucky to teach such wonderful students. Linwood is a great place where I truly enjoy being around such enthusiastic students, staff, and parents.

I have been married to my husband Travis for 12 years. We live in Oregon City with our two daughters, Alison and Merilyn. I’m the oldest member of my family with a younger sister who is married and has three daughters. My mom continues to live in Happy Valley, the city where I grew up. I went to Happy Valley Elementary School, Ickes Junior High (now OIT), and Clackamas High School.

I graduated from Oregon State University in May 1993 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts. I completed my teaching certification at Warner Pacific College in 1995.

I love the beach, football, and the Oregon State Beavers. When I have time, I like to read, scrapbook, listen to music, watch movies, and spend time with my family. Growing up, my parents would take my sister and me on a "camping road trip" every summer to visit my grandparents in Illinois. While I haven't taken my daughters anywhere quite that far, I do enjoy traveling with them. Maybe some day we will cross the country... camping all the way!
